CANBERRA’S Civic Square post office will close before Christmas.
The post office has been told by it’s Canberra Centre landlord to vacate the Bunda Street premises by the end of November.
“The Civic Square Post Office will be closing on November 30 and unfortunately there are no suitable alternative locations within Canberra Centre,” an Australia Post spokesperson told CityNews.
“Both Canberra GPO and Braddon Post Office are located within one kilometre and will continue to provide a full range of postal services for the area.
“We apologise for any inconvenience.”
No employees will loose their jobs, and staff will be redeployed to other Australia Post outlets, the spokesperson said.
It’s unclear why Australia Post has been asked to vacate their Canberra Centre premises.
