Collaery tops shortlist for book-of-the-year

AN account of Australia’s Timor Sea intrigue by lawyer and former ACT attorney-general Bernard Collaery tops the list of six books shortlisted for the 2021 ACT Book of the Year.

A total of 21 eligible books, ranging over  fiction, non-fiction, history, biography, short stories, children’s books and poetry were nominated for the 2021 award, which recognises quality contemporary literary works by ACT  authors.

The winning book  will be announced on  September 29 .

The 2021 ACT Book of the Year Shortlist

  • “Oil Under Troubled Water” by Bernard Collaery
  • “Utterly” by PS Cottier
  • “Spinoza’s Overcoat” by Subhash Jaireth
  • “Nigh” by Penelope Layland
  • “The Trials of Portnoy” by Patrick Mullins
  • “Doggerland” by Moya Pacey.
