Driver cops a stiff fine for protruding load

Booked in Belconnen for having a protruding load.

THE driver of a white Commodore station wagon has been fined $598 and one demerit point for having building materials protruding from the passenger’s window and the tailgate of the vehicle.

Police stopped the vehicle at about 8.30am yesterday (June 24) in Belconnen.

Police say it is an offence to:

  • not properly secure a load;
  • to have a load that causes the vehicle to be unstable;
  • or to have a load that projects from a vehicle in a way that is likely to injure a person, obstruct the path of another driver or damage a vehicle.
