A 37-year-old woman was arrested after a car pursuit through Tuggeranong and Woden suburbs.
Late yesterday (May 29) afternoon an unmarked police car attempted a traffic stop of a blue Subaru Liberty after seeing it driving on the wrong side of McBryde Crescent. Shortly after the Subaru failed to stop on Wheeler Cresent and a police pursuit started.
Police say that while the car was on Erindale Drive, stop sticks were used and the front left tyre began to deflate. The pursuit continued on to Mawson Drive. As the Subaru drove past the Mawson Shops, a second set of stop sticks were successfully deployed, deflating the right front tyre.
The Subaru drove at low speed through a red light at the intersection of Mawson Drive and Athllon Drive and continued on to Beasley Street, Pearce, where it came to a stop. The female driver was arrested and her car, fitted with plates from another vehicle, was seized.
She was charged with multiple offences including failing to stop for police, aggravated dangerous driving, driving under the influence of a drug, driving a vehicle with numberplate issued to another vehicle, and using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
