Member for Eden-Monaro Kristy McBain said $188,120 will be used to upgrade the T-junction on Southbar Road and Tharwa Road to a channelised right turn.

A barrier on the roadside will also be installed.

McBain said the Black Spot Program funds safety measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts at locations where a number of serious crashes are known to have occurred, or are at risk of occurring.

“The Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics has found that Black Spot projects reduce the number of crashes causing death and injury by 30 per cent on average,” she said.

“I am very pleased the federal government is investing more than $850,000 to address safety concerns at two black spots in Eden-Monaro.”
