Two covid deaths in southern NSW

A MAN in his 70s from the Bega Valley and a man in his 90s from Goulburn Mulwaree have died from COVID-19, the Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has reported today (January 18).

The news comes as the district recorded 436 new cases of the virus, 321 of which were detected by PCR tests and 115 detected from Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs).

Of the new cases, 135 were reported in the Queanbeyan-Palerang region.

There are now 3941 total active cases throughout southern NSW. 14 people are currently hospitalised, three of whom are in intensive care.

Elsewhere in southern NSW there are:

  • 47 new cases in the Bega Valley
  • 37 in Eurobodalla
  • 53 in Goulburn Mulwaree
  • 34 in the Snowy Monaro
  • 5 in the Upper Lachlan
  • 10 in the Yass valley
