THE National Film and Sound Archive will host the Canberra premiere of “Behrouz”, a feature documentary about Kurdish-Iranian journalist Behrouz Boochani’s experience of immigration detention on Manus Island after fleeing the Iranian regime and arriving in Australia by boat in 2013. Director Simon V Kurian will be here for a Q&A after the screening at Arc Cinema, September 2.

- SCOTT Bradlee’s “Postmodern Jukebox” is known for reworking popular modern music into different vintage genres. Llewellyn Hall, August 31.
- GUITARIST Nathan Cavaleri will celebrate the release of his single, “Broken Lines” and coming album, “Miracles.” The Playhouse, September 1.
- WODEN Valley Youth Choir is holding its annual concert at Wesley Uniting Church, Forrest, September 2.
- THE Resonants, directed by Helen Swan, with the Forrest National Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Gillian Bailey Graham, will perform a concert featuring Ola Gjeilo’s setting of the ballad “Dreamweaver” and George Shearing’s jazzy settings of songs from Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”. - MARUKI Community Orchestra returns with Mendelssohn’s “Symphony no.1”, Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony no.5” and “Bloch Suite Modale” for flute and strings. Albert Hall, September 3.
- CANBERRA Bach Ensemble will perform the “Shepherd” cantatas, BWV 104, 85, 112 and the Mass in F, BWV 233. St Christopher’s Cathedral, Manuka, September 2-3.
- ART Song Canberra’s next concert, “To the Sun!” will be performed by Songmakers Australia (Merlyn Quaife, Christina Wilson, Brenton Spiteri and Nicholas Dinopoulos) with Andrea Katz on piano. Wesley Music Centre, Forrest, September 3.
- Grand prize winners of the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition will perform in “An Afternoon with Affinity Quartet”, Windsong Pavilion, Barragga Bay (Bermagui) September 3.
- GEOFF’S Jazz At Smiths is hosting Transit’s launch of the album “Go Tell It on the Mountain,: collaboration of Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra jazz musicians. Smith’s Alternative, September 6.
