Hundreds of calls for help after storm

SES got 200 calls for help.

By Scott Mayman

The ACT Emergency Services has received nearly 200 calls for assistance following Saturday’s big thunderstorm.

Hail was reported in some parts of the ACT, with drains overflowing.

Last night flooding closed Beasley Street, between Athllon Drive and Lambrigg Street, and a tree fell on a car on the Tuggeranong Parkway.

Elsewhere, powerlines were brought down.

The storm also resulted in a burst gas pipe in Kaleen.
