After 30 years on the podium, members of the admired Goldner String Quartet are hanging up their bows, but Canberrans will have one last chance to see them in action this weekend.
Since their founding in 1995, the Goldners — Dene Olding and Dimity Hall on violin, Irina Morozova on viola and Canberra-trained Julian Smiles on cello — have performed across Australia, Europe, the US and the Asia Pacific.
Over the years, the Goldners can boast they have performed more than 30 world premieres, released 19 studio albums and recorded with labels such as ABC Classic, Hyperion, and Naxos.
Patrons at the Snow Concert Hall performance this weekend will hear a mixed selection of works that have been part of the quartet’s career— Robert Schumann’s String Quartet Op.41 No.3, Carl Vine’s String Quartet No.3 and Franz Schubert’s Death and the Maiden.
