After just a year at the helm, executive director of the Canberra International Music Festival Rachel Whealy will leave to take a similar position with The Song Company in Sydney.
Whealy is a well-known figure in the music world and CIMF board chair Genevieve Jacobs told CityNews the festival was “seriously sad to be losing her”, but that it was understandable that she wanted to return to her home town Sydney.
“Her personal warmth, her passion for music and her generous spirit have endeared her to everyone in her orbit, and have made a significant difference to CIMF’s operations,” she said.
Interim arrangements were in place, Jacobs said, to give the board time to think about who would best fit their needs.
