A 24-year-old man has been extradited from Victoria where he fled after allegedly assaulting his partner in January.
Police allege the man assaulted his partner at her residence in Phillip, on January 9, strangling her and striking her in the head repeatedly. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police were unable to find the man in the ACT and a warrant was issued for his arrest on January 15.
With assistance from Victoria Police, the man was located at a residence in Wodonga, Victoria on Saturday where he was arrested.
He has been charged with family violence offences including four counts of common assault, choking a person and rendering them insensible, and contravening a family violence order.
