A P-plate motorcyclist, “late for a university lecture”, will be without his licence for the next six months after being caught driving at 161 kilometres per hour on the Majura Parkway.

Police say the 20-year-old Casey man was caught riding his Kawasaki motorcycle 61 km/h above the posted 100 km/h speed limit late on Friday morning.

The man – a provisional licence holder – told officers he was running late for his university lecture.

The man was fined $1841 as well as six demerit points, which prevents him from driving in the ACT for the next 180 days.

He’s lucky he’s not dead or injured and that he didn’t harm anyone else.

There is a very good reason that insurance companies charge under 25s for more expensive insurance. Poor decision-making due to under-developed brains, impulsiveness & immature frontal lobes & executive functions.
