St Basil’s broadens its aged-care packages in Canberra

Euphoria by St Basil’s is broadening its Home Care Packages from basic cleaning and meal preparation to include personal care, nursing, transportation, respite care and social support.

Leading aged-care provider St. Basil’s NSW/ACT, in partnership with the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, is expanding its Euphoria services in the ACT to better support seniors in need.

CEO Diana Horvatovic said this expansion included an enhanced range of Home Care Packages (HCP) and the introduction of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), offering government-subsidised care to eligible seniors.

With aged care wait times in Canberra reaching up to 18 months, many seniors were struggling to access essential services. To help bridge this gap, Euphoria by St Basil’s was broadening its Home Care Packages from basic cleaning and meal preparation to include personal care, nursing, transportation, respite care and social support. This ensured more seniors received the care they needed, when they needed it.

“With a 65-year legacy in aged care, St. Basil’s NSW/ACT is proud to be the only provider in the ACT offering culturally informed care for the Greek-Australian community,” she said.

“Our commitment is to ensure all seniors have access to high-quality home care, whether through government-funded programs or flexible private care options.

“The aged care sector faces significant challenges, with long waitlists leaving many seniors without support. In response, we’ve expanded our services to provide personalised, high-quality care that fosters independence, connection, and dignity at home.”

She said that as part of this expansion, Euphoria by St Basil’s was also offering the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) in the ACT. This initiative provided essential transportation services to attend medical appointments, shopping, and social events, helping senior Australians stay active and connected within their communities.

St. Basil’s NSW/ACT had undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years, achieving full compliance with all 42 aged care quality standards for two consecutive years.

Cerello Silang, general manager of Community Services ACT, said: “We’re incredibly excited to expand Euphoria by St. Basil’s home care services in the ACT.

“At our core, we’re all about supporting seniors to live life on their terms, with care that feels like family. Broadening our services means we can reach more people who need that extra support to stay independent, comfortable, and connected in their own homes.”

Diana said that as demand for aged care services continued to grow, Euphoria Support at Home by St Basil’s was setting a new standard in home care, ensuring seniors received the support and dignity they deserved to live independently and comfortably in their own homes.
