Video: shop assistant assaulted and robbed in Civic

Police have issued security footage of an alleged aggravated assault on a shop assistant in Civic on Monday night. 

As a result a 16-year-old boy has been charged over of two aggravated robberies in the city and the ANU at that time.

Police say the boy and another male entered a convenience store on London Circuit, wearing black-hooded jumpers and face masks at about 9.30pm and allegedly began making demands of the shop assistant, before taking his mobile phone. He was punched in the face trying to get his phone back.

The pair then allegedly stole items from within the store and behind the counter.

Then at about 9.55pm, a man was walking within the Australian National University campus, police allege the same two males approached him and demanded money.

The pair then allegedly pinned the man to the ground, stomped on his head and stole his mobile phone.

Police arrived and, in searching the area, located one of the males – the 16-year-old boy – who was subsequently arrested.

He has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery in company.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the second male allegedly involved in the robberies.
