Woman faces charge of inciting suicide

A 34-year-old woman is facing charges relating to sexual assault and inciting suicide.

Police allege that between 2015 and 2022 the woman was in a relationship with another woman and in 2018 she told her partner she should kill herself. The partner was admitted to hospital that day after attempting suicide.

Later in 2018, the accused woman allegedly sexually assaulted her partner and began threatening her via a messaging app.

Police say that in 2021 she got into an argument that escalated to a physical altercation with the woman allegedly strangling her partner.

In March 2024 the partner provided statements to the police and the 34-year-old was arrested in Belconnen on Thursday.

She was subsequently charged with inciting suicide, sexual intercourse without consent and choking/suffocating/strangling another person.
