E-motorbike burnout damages South.Point floor

Three youths allegedly rode e-motorbikes through South.Point shopping centre in Greenway last week, with one rider performing a burnout that damaged the floor.

Police say the trio entered the centre about 8pm on Monday riding two e-motorbikes at speed.

One of the riders allegedly carried out a burnout near the customer service desk, leaving marks and causing damage.

Police have now released images of the three youths.

Anyone who recognises them or the e-motorbikes are urged to contact police via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.

It’s increasingly clear that it is essential to be able to identify those riding e-bikes, scooters or any other vehicle that risks harm to others or damage to either public or private assets. Time to license all vehicles or have them removed from footpaths, roads and other public locations.

Parental and personal responsibility for any harm done is necessary, yet it’s impossible without identification. It’s reasonable to expect a cost for the privilege of posing a risk to other people, whether driving a car or other vehicle. Only this way will there be advance commitment to do the right thing and accountability for failures to honour that commitment.
