Man charged with assaulting police and breaching bail

A 28-year-old O’Connor man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted three police officers while being arrested for breaching his bail conditions.

On Wednesday morning, police saw the man riding a motorcycle without a helmet on Knox Street, Watson.

He was stopped and arrested for riding a motor vehicle while being unlicensed and breaching his bail conditions.

Police say the man became aggressive, allegedly striking two officers in the face and biting the leg of a third.

After he was restrained, a search of his belongings uncovered more than 40 grams of a white crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine, a sum of cash and multiple prescription medications.

He will faces court charged with three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, three counts of assaulting a frontline community service provider, and one count each of drug trafficking, riding while unlicensed, failing to wear a helmet and attempting to escape from custody.
