A prescribed hazard reduction burn is scheduled to begin at Gossan Hill Nature Reserve in Bruce today, subject to suitable weather and fuel moisture conditions.
The burn is aimed at reducing the fire hazard in the area and will be conducted by ACT Parks and Conservation Service fire crews.
Smoke may be visible across parts of Canberra during the operation, while flames and glowing embers may also be seen at the reserve.
Crews will monitor and patrol the site until the burn is completed.
People are asked not to call triple zero over smoke, flames or embers associated with the operation unless they see an unattended fire.
