THE Canberra Southern Cross Club (CSCC) is removing all gaming machines from the Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club.
By Wednesday, 96 of the 100 machines the Club committed to remove from gaming room floors will be in storage.
“The machines have been removed in support of the Government’s stated desire for Canberra’s community clubs to diversify their business model in ways which reduce their reliance on poker machine revenue,” a spokesperson said.
“This removal also allows CSCC to focus on transforming the Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club into a premium dining and hospitality venue befitting its absolute waterfront location. We have commenced an upgrade to dining and function facilities which include the addition of the new function room, The Wardroom. These upgrades will be completed by September 2015.
“The Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club is forging a strong reputation as Canberra’s best destination by the lake, with fine dining at the Yacht Club, wedding and functions in the lakeside marquee and fresh fish and chips at Snapper on the Lake.”
