ESPORT organisation, Reload Esports, are hosting a League of Legends tournament with a prize pool of $10,000, the biggest for a community tournament to date.
“The ‘RELOAD 10k Arena’ has attracted hundreds of participants and the final on Saturday is expected to reach thousands of viewers online and live,” Organiser Ravi Sharma said.
“The preliminary rounds were played online during August and involved teams from all over Australia and New Zealand. The last two teams, ‘InFamous’ and ‘Washed Up Swig’ will be travelling to the capital for a live showdown on September 17th. This will be on the main stage of Gamma.con, the region’s largest pop culture convention, held this year at the Australian Institute of Sport’s 6,000 capacity Arena.
“We all know how big esports is internationally, but with this tournament and final we’re raising the bar on exposure, recognition and reward in the national scene.”
InFamous’ team manager, Hayden Dunn: “We have been putting over 30 hours per week of training and discussion to try and give us the advantage. This is a great opportunity, we want to provide an entertaining show this Saturday.”
The action starts from 3.30pm this Saturday.
