CANBERRA’S (and Bungendore’s) most enduring musical satirists, Shortis and Simpson, are marking 25 years of mocking our great and good by staging two fundraiser concerts for the Cobargo Community Bushfire Recovery Fund.
You won’t get into the first concert on the Friday, but now they’ve opened up a second concert to cope with the extraordinary response from their many Canberra fans.
“Silver Heads and Golden Leaders” is the duo’s summation of their quarter century, which began at the School of Art Café in Queanbeyan exactly when the Cobargo Folk Festival began.
Sadly the Cobargo event, which was due to run from February 28-March 1, has been postponed because of the fires. Shortis and Simpson had been scheduled to sing there.
In the concert their guest will be another legendary veteran of the Canberra music scene, fiddler and guitarist Dave O’Neill, and the concert has been backed by Ainslie and Gorman arts centres.
Shortis and Simpson silver anniversary concert and fundraiser, main hall, Ainslie Arts Centre, Elouera Street, Braddon, 8 pm, Saturday, February 22. Bookat eventbrite.com.au or 6182 0000, weekdays.
