Oxley man caught posting child-abuse material on social media

AN Oxley man has been charged after he posted child sexual abuse material to social media.

Police were alerted to the 23-year-old after they received a referral from the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE). The referral led to a search of the man’s Oxley home where they allegedly located a substantial amount of child sexual abuse material on the man’s mobile phone.

He was arrested and charged with using a carriage service to view child abuse material, and will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court.

His arrest comes days after an Evatt man, 40, was arrested for using a carriage service to make child-abuse material available and possessing child-abuse material.

Members of the public who have any information about people involved in the possession or sharing of child exploitation material are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000 or report via accce.gov.au/report.
