The mother of all air balloons floats back

Andrew Campbell gets up close and personal with Skywhale.

THE controversial star of the Canberra Centenary in 2013, the Skywhale air balloon is home and taking centre stage again at the annual autumn Canberra Balloon Spectacular on the lawns of Old Parliament House, beside lake Burley Griffin.

The event, which attracts more than 30 balloons, is reckoned to be one of the four leading balloon events in the world. It runs every morning, weather permitting, until March 15. Master snapper ANDREW CAMPBELL has been down to see the Canberra Day early morning show.
