Fourth confirmed virus case flew in on two flights

THE fourth confirmed coronavirus case in Canberra, a woman in her 20s, was on an international flight to Melbourne, and then a domestic flight to Canberra on Tuesday (March 17). ACT Health is now chasing people who sat in rows next to her.

The woman flew in to Melbourne from Los Angeles at 8.30am, March 17, on flight QF94. People in rows 71-75 are considered close contacts and are urged to self-quarantine immediately.

The woman then caught a flight QF2130 from Melbourne to Canberra, which departed at noon and arrived at 1.30pm on Tuesday. People in rows 15-19 are considered to be close contacts on this flight and are also asked to self-quarantine.

Any Canberrans sitting in these rows are also asked to call the Communicable Disease Control Section of ACT Health on 5124 9213 for further advice.

ACT Health says it is working with national authorities to identify individuals who are close contacts as a priority.

A small number of household close contacts have been identified and contacted this afternoon but ACT Health is still working to identify close travel contacts.

ACT Health says the woman in her 20s has complied with self-quarantining directions for travellers returning from overseas and is now isolating with ACT Health support.

There are four confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the ACT.

For people who are being asked to self-quarantine, there is comprehensive advice at health.act.gov.au
