Covid case visited ACT gallery and restaurant

A NSW man has tested positive for COVID-19 after visiting a gallery and restaurant in Canberra on Monday (June 14).

The case, a man in his 40s from Sydney’s north-western suburbs, tested positive with low virus levels.

He visited the ACT on Monday and went to the “Botticelli to Van Gogh” exhibition and the exhibition gift shop at the National Gallery of Australia between 12-1.45pm and then to the Via Dolce Pasticceria restaurant between 2.45pm-3.15pm.

An ACT Health spokesperson advises anyone that was at either of the locations at the times listed to immediately isolate until further advised by ACT Health, get a COVID-19 test, and fill in the declaration form on the ACT COVID-19 website.

“In addition, if you were at the National Gallery of Australia, including the main gift shop, from 12-2pm on Monday, you must be vigilant for even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms, immediately get tested and isolate until a negative test is received,” the spokesperson said.

“Investigations and contact tracing is underway this morning. As part of this, ACT Health will be looking at ‘Check In CBR’ and other ticketing data to help identify people who were at the venues above.

“Extra staff are being rostered on at existing ACT testing clinics and we will continue to monitor demand and respond as needed. See the COVID-19 website for further information on getting tested.

“This is a strong reminder that COVID-19 is still a risk. Getting tested for COVID-19 and use of the use of the Check In CBR app is now more important than ever. If someone in Canberra tests positive to COVID-19, Check In CBR helps us quickly identify and contact people who may have been exposed.”
