A $51 million dollar upgrade to the Tuggeranong Parkway is being brought forward by three years, with work to start next year.

Senator for the ACT Zed Seselja, said the project which is being funded by the federal government, will deliver a series of “congestion busting upgrades” along the Parkway and surrounding roads for the 40,000 cars travelling to and from Canberra’s south each day.

The funding, included in the federal government’s Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO), has also set aside $24 million for road upgrades across the Territory including $18 million to improve intersections in Griffith, Theodore, Conder and Weston, and $5 million to re-surface and widen Boboyan Road.

“The Liberal-National government is kickstarting projects that will get Canberrans home sooner and safer right across the Territory, no matter where you live – be it Tuggeranong, Woden Valley, Belconnen, or Gungahlin – we are delivering for Canberrans,” Senator Seselja said.

This years MYEFO also includes $41.9 million to support the National Film & Sound Archive save at-risk collections, and $5.7 million for the National Library of Australia’s Trove website.
