Police seize drugs, cash, taser and snake

A 50-YEAR-OLD woman has been arrested after police found drugs, cash, a home-made taser and an illegally owned snake in her Melba home.

Police raided the residence yesterday (May 25) where they located substances suspected to be methylamphetamine and cannabis, a hydroponic growing system, a home-made conducted energy weapon, cash suspected to be the proceeds of crime, and a three-metre-long jungle jag python.

ACT Parks and Conservation Service Licensing and Compliance members attended and confirmed no appropriate licence was held to keep the snake and removed it from the home.

The woman has been charged with possession of a drug of dependence for sale or supply, possession of a prohibited weapon, keeping a non-exempt animal and breach of good behaviour obligations.

Police intend to lay further charges in relation to the hydroponic equipment and possession of cannabis.

The woman is scheduled to face the ACT Magistrates court today.
