THE director of the Museum of Australian Democracy, Daryl Karp, has been appointed to head up the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney.

Karp and a host of female luminaries, including Dame Quentin Bryce, Rosie Batty and the exhibition curator, Virginia Haussegger, were on hand at MoAD last night (June 21) to unveil the new “Changemakers,” celebrating the female torchbearers who have played a pivotal role in shaping Australian society. The exhibition runs at MoAD until further notice.

IT’S a bumper week in the galleries around town, with the following:

• BEAVER Galleries in Deakin has Rona Green’s “Every time you walk on by I gotta sigh,” linocuts, paintings, sculpture and ceramic tiles, alongside a new exhibition of weavings from Bula’Bula Arts. Until July 9.
• “ANITA McIntyre: A Survey 1970 to 2022” examines Anita McIntyre’s remarkable career in ceramics. 90 Stockdill Drive, Holt, Wednesday – Friday 10am – 4pm | Saturday – Sunday 12pm – 3pm until July 17.
• AUSTRALIAN National Capital Artists have Naomi Zouwer, Daniel Vukovljak, Heidi Lefebvre and Tilly Davey experimenting by interrupting materials and paintings, while also featuring handwritten wall texts, crazy quilting, ceramics, works on paper, found and “other” objects. ANCA Gallery, Dickson, until July 17.
• ANU Drill Hall Gallery, Acton, has “Catherine Rogers: Evidence and The Visible”, photographs marked by curiosity, humour, erudition and strong aesthetic motivations.
• “HEART of the Tree” will showcase a selection of turned timber vessels and sculptures by Terry Martin. This will be Martin’s 122^ndexhibition spanning seven countries, of which 14 have been solo. Bungendore Wood Works, until September 25.
