THE 2022-23 ACT Budget passed the Legislative Assembly today (October 19), giving healthcare nearly one third of expenditure.
Chief Minister Andrew Barr says, post-covid, the 2022-23 ACT Budget outlines a “significantly improved” Budget position for the ACT by more than $800 million over four years.
He says $2.2 billion is dedicated to healthcare – with more than $390 million in new investment – and the employment of 400 more healthcare professionals.
Barr says the Budget includes a “comprehensive package” to tackle housing affordability and supply – from targeted stamp duty cuts, through to the construction of hundreds of new public housing dwellings.
The Budget will put another $87 million into the Growing and Renewing Public Housing program to expand it by a further 140 dwellings, as well as additional money being put towards public housing maintenance and repairs.
This Budget sets out a $7 billion infrastructure program over five years.
