LOCAL event hire company Barlens has been named as the national Rental Company of the Year – Events Division.
The win, in the Hire and Rental Industry Association’s (HRIA) National Hire Industry Excellence Awards for 2023, is no small feat for the locally owned and grown business, which as been operating for more than 58 years.
The annual HRIA awards pay tribute to the exceptional service and innovation standards displayed throughout Australia’s hiring sector. The HRIA is the national industry body representing Australia’s $8 billion hire and rental industry.
Barlens CEO Peter Taylor said everyone in the Barlens family was “chuffed” by the win.
“This accolade is a testament to our team’s work and dedication. Recent environmental factors, such as the pandemic saw many businesses in our industry shut their doors,” he said.
“The team at Barlens remained proactive, adapting our service offerings and logistical systems to provide testing clinics and drive-through structures within a 24-hour notice period.

Mr Taylor said Barlens serviced the Australian east coast, ACT, NSW, Queensland and Victoria. From Canberra’s Floriade to the country’s biggest Field Days at Henty.
“Our company was established in 1965 as Stewart Barlen Hire and reformed as Barlens Event Hire in 2009,” he said.
“Originating in Canberra, Barlens has become one of the largest event hire suppliers on the east coast of Australia, recently expanding into Sydney and Queensland.
