SCREEN Canberra announced on Wednesday the appointment of Holly Trueman as its new CEO, replacing long-time founding executive officer, Monica Penders.
Trueman is well-known in the industry as former head of production and executive producer at Wildbear Entertainment, managing film and television projects across its offices in Australia and New Zealand.
Additionally, as the executive director of the Canberra Environment Centre, Trueman has, according to Screen Canberra chair David Court, demonstrated her experience and skills in community engagement and leading not-for-profit organisations.
For her part, Trueman says “I’ve been active in the TV and film industry for many years, and to be able to help other filmmakers and storytellers tell their stories and to share stories from Canberra, this is the pinnacle for me.”
While praising the achievements of Screen Canberra under Penders, she says, “I’d like to see the size of the local screen industry increase. By growing the reputation of our local industry, we can create professional opportunities and establish a sustainable, thriving hub where residents can advance their careers and businesses.”
