Wheels up for direct flights to Fiji

Canberra to Fiji… three times a week by October.

By aviation writer Scott Mayman

A NEW international flight route has started from Canberra Airport that offers travellers connections to North America.
Fiji Airways on Friday started its direct service between the national capital and Fiji with onward connections to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu and Vancouver.

The airline will fly to Fiji twice a week, which will relieve ACT passengers from having to get there via Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.

And it’s a psychological boost for Canberra Airport, that’s been seeking more direct international flights out of the ACT.

The Fiji schedule will increase to three flights a week from October.
