Dinah is ARF Park’s pin-up dog

Dinah in front of her ARF Park image… “She holds herself with such poise. I think the fact she’s been in foster a little longer too, made me go with her in the end,” said artist Houl.

Long-term foster dog Dinah is the focus for new artwork at “ARF Park” – on Dixon Drive, Holder.

ACT Rescue and Foster president Angharad Lodwick said two new murals covering storage shipping containers were a great addition to the park and a visual reminder of the work of dog rescue group ARF.

“The containers had a bit of graffiti on them, so we thought it would be great to partner with a local artist to reclaim them,” she said.

Artist Houl said he chose Dinah as the model from the dog’s online photographs.

“There was something strangely regal and stoic in the photos online. She holds herself with such poise. I think the fact she’s been in foster a little longer too, made me go with her in the end,” he said.

Ms Lodwick said the artwork was also an opportunity to showcase the work of ARF, which had been rescuing and rehoming dogs in the ACT and surrounds for more than 20 years.

“ACT Rescue and Foster is committed to finding homes for local dogs who through no fault of their own find themselves without a home. We have dogs of all shapes and sizes and personalities and you can find them on our website fosterdogs.org”

Ms Lodwick said ARF Park, which is land lease from the ACT government, was used by foster families to exercise their dogs or participate in training provided by ARF.
