Bleeding, stabbed woman in Civic hotel foyer

About 4am on Sunday police responded to reports of a woman in the reception area of a Civic hotel with serious injuries, including missing teeth, stab wounds and significant bruising and bleeding.

Police say the woman alleged that a man known to her had assaulted her, stabbed her multiple times and hit her on the head with a hammer. She also alleged that the man locked her in the hotel room, and she was unable to leave.

Police arrested the man at the hotel and charged him with aggravated intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm, forcible confinement and damaging property.

Police anticipate laying further charges.
