RSPCA ACT’s biggest annual financial fundraiser of the year, where each donation on the day is doubled, will be held on Thursday.
Multiple partners have donated a pool of funds to Give to Get them Home, and all donations will be doubled until the base pool of funds has been exhausted.
CEO Michelle Robertson says the telethon-style event is vital in allowing RSPCA ACT to combat animal cruelty and homelessness.
“As many people are doing it tough, so are our animals in the ACT,” she says.
“It has been a challenging winter and we have been over capacity for practically the entire year, with more animals coming in and also staying longer than average.
“Support from the ACT community is what predominantly funds us, and this support is mission critical.”
RSPCA ACT helps thousands of animals each year to find new homes or get reunited with their owners, in addition to socialisation, training, desexing, vaccinations and other necessary veterinarian treatment.
“Fundraisers like these directly help us care for animals where costs surrounding treatment and care continue to rise” says Ms Robertson.
