A 19-year-old MacGregor man, driving with a suspended licence, in an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and failing a roadside breath test, has been charged with multiple offences after being arrested early on Saturday morning.
Just after midnight police spotted a silver Ford Falcon utility with apparent defects heading south on Drakeford Drive in Wanniassa. They directed the ute to pull over but it accelerated away, allegedly tipping 120km/h in an 80km/h zone.
Police say the Falcon drove straight through a red light at the intersection of Drakeford Drive and Athllon Drive in Kambah before heading northbound on Drakeford Drive at high speed.
The ute continued driving dangerously in Kambah, allegedly reaching 130km/h in a 60km/h zone.
Police say that at about 1am, the vehicle drove off the Tuggeranong Parkway and stopped at the side of the road. The driver was arrested.
He underwent a roadside breath screening test which resulted in a positive result.
He faces charges of two counts of failing to stop for police, two counts of aggravated dangerous driving, two counts of entering intersection on a red light, driving a motor vehicle with alcohol in his breath, driving with a suspended licence and using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
