A 41-year-old man has been charged after allegedly kicking and choking a child and assaulting his partner at their north Canberra home on Sunday.
Police allege the man became involved in an argument with the child about 2pm before punching a window.
When the child confronted him, he allegedly kicked and choked her. She escaped and attempted to call police, but the man allegedly threw a piece of broken glass at her.
Police say the man also kicked his partner when she tried to intervene.
A neighbour alerted police and the man was arrested at the home about 2.30pm.
He has been charged with two counts of aggravated common assault and one count each of choking, suffocating or strangling another person and property damage.
