Man burnt in Mitchell blaze

A MAN has been hospitalised with minor burns from a blaze in a Mitchell car yard this morning.

A three bay metal garage structure and a number of vehicles were also severely damaged by the fire, on Brooks Street.

The male patient was treated for minor burns to one hand and was taken to The Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

Three fire pumpers worked to control the blaze, the cause of which is unknown at this time.

The initial damage bill has been estimated at $50,000.
