Questacon wins top gong at tourism awards

QUESTACON has won the Canberra and Capital Region Tourism Award for the best tourist attraction for 2011.

Floriade 2010 won the top gong for Major Festivals and Events, while Robyn Hendry, CEO of the Canberra Convention Bureau won the award for Outstanding Contribution by an Individual.

According to Andrew Barr, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation, the Canberra region’s tourism industry turns over $1.5 billion and employs more than 13,000 Canberrans each year.

The winners will represent the ACT at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards 2011 in Cairns in March 2012.
