IF you’ve ever found yourself putting on mascara using the rear-view mirror, you’ll understand why interest is growing in cosmetics that can help us cut down on the time it takes to get made up in the morning. Wanting to cut down on making-up time is a strong trend, says Tony Baumann, head of Artistry at Mecca Cosmetica.

“We now find that most people have less time to apply make-up, and there is a clear trend in multi-tasking products,” says Tony. “With technology in cosmetics changing so rapidly, there are many products that you can use now for more than one function.”

These include lip and cheek stains, foundations such as Stila’s which has inbuilt primer and concealer, and easy-to-apply brush-style concealer/highlighters.

“For the ultimate time saver, always use one product for lips and cheeks,” Tony says. “This not only saves you time, but if your lips and cheeks are in the same shade, you can play around with any other colour story on the eyes.

“The best make-up bags will have those go-to staple items that deliver. Then just add your seasonal colour items to keep it on-trend.”
