Elderly man assaulted at home

A 92-year-old man was wrestled to the ground in his home by a man armed with a pocket knife.

About 9am yesterday, the 92-year-old victim answered the front door of his Turner home where he was confronted by a man who immediately entered the house and wrestled the victim to the ground.

Police said the offender, carrying a pocket knife, demanded to know where the victim’s wallet was. The offender took the victim’s wallet which contained cash and left the house.

Ambulance paramedics attended to the man, and although shaken, he was not hurt.

The offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, 178cm (5’10”) tall with a medium build. He was wearing grey coloured slacks and a short sleeved shirt.

Anyone who saw a man matching this description in the area of Boldrewood Street in Turner about 9am on Sunday morning, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
