Embassy attack: police seek witnesses

POLICE are seeking anyone who saw a group of people that gathered near the Commonwealth Avenue bridge shortly before the attack on the Syrian embassy earlier this month.

Police believe the group of people, mostly men, gathered in the car park near the bridge about 9pm on Saturday February 4. Police believe the group may have been involved in the attack later that night.

The attack on the embassy, which occurred about 9.30pm, caused extensive damage to the embassy’s ground floor including smashed windows and damage to the front door.

Witnesses are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or visit www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
