Paralympians to get big welcome home

CANBERRA’S Paralympians will get an official “welcome home” reception next month, Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said today.

Ms Gallagher said in addition to an official welcome home in Sydney today for the 2012 Australian Paralympic Team, there will also be a reception for the ACT’s Paralympians in Canberra at the Legislative Assembly on 2 October.

“The Australian Paralympic Team enjoyed a very successful London Games, finishing fifth on the medal tally with 32 gold, 23 silver and 30 bronze medals,” she said.

“I am particularly pleased with the contribution to the medal tally by the following Canberra based athletes who are supported by the Australian Institute of Sport and the ACT Academy of Sport.”
