Police catch alleged armed robber

A 31-year-old Hawker man was arrested this morning for multiple armed robberies.

Shortly after midnight, police searched a home in Gordon, where items were seized in relation to ongoing investigations involving aggravated robberies.

Det Supt Brett McCann from Criminal Investigations said this arrest was important given the seriousness of the offences committed.

“Arrests like this demonstrate that ACT Policing is committed to apprehending people who commit these types of violent crimes which often traumatise the victims and witnesses,” Det Supt McCann said.

After the search, the man was arrest. He will be charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and theft and will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning. Bail will be opposed.
