PRIME leads ratings race

PRIME has raced to the lead in television ratings this week thanks to the V8 Supercars, but the network is still jostling with WIN for peak viewing in Canberra.

WIN’s consistent performance was helped along by a rare top 20 appearance by Big Brother.

PRIME also did well with The X-Factor, which drew solid audiences this week.

In another demonstration of Canberra’s divergence from the norm, PRIME failed to hit the mark with the program that topped the national ratings – Anh Do’s Vietnam.

It was the number one program nationally with 1.6 million viewers, but in Canberra attracted fewer than 24,000, finishing at a lowly No.42 on the table.

Similarly, Underground – the Julian Assange Story, which was No. 7 nationally, only made No. 39 in Canberra, soundly beaten by Gardening Australia and Rick Stein’s Spain.

The ABC did well with a new series of New Tricks in its Friday night crime slot, as well as constant performers like Gruen, The Chaser and QI.
