ActewAGL warns against fraud

POWER supplier ActewAGL is reminding Canberrans to be “vigilant” against fraud, after an ActewAGL branded uniform was stolen from a staff member’s home during a burglary.

ActewAGL General Manager Network Services Rob Atkin says people should not allow entry into their land by anyone claiming to be an ActewAGL employee or contractor without seeing their ActewAGL identity card.

“We’re asking the community to be vigilant against fraud and remember that ActewAGL will never request face-to-face payment for a service at your property. ActewAGL staff or contractors seeking to conduct work inside a house will always present photo identification,” he says.

If a person is claiming to be an ActewAGL employee and cannot produce an identity card, or if they are behaving suspiciously, then residents are urged to call ACT Policing on 13 14 44 or ActewAGL on 13 10 93.
