$600 million to change a life?

capital metro

DESPITE spending thousands of dollars trying to bully a paltry number of twitter followers into believing a tram is a universal panacea, the Government hasn’t actually, formally decided whether to go through with it yet.

The Canberra Times today features Simon Corbell mulling over the Government’s decision on the business case to be made in the next couple of months.

It goes on to have a telling quote from Capital Metro director Emma Thomas talking of the “life changing” possibilities.

She said of an employee on the new Gold Coast light rail line “had seen … his whole life being changed by the opportunity to be a light rail operator”.

A project with not much change (conservatively) from $700 million and one life transformed? Just think of the life transforming potential of raffling off 6,000 bungs of $100,000 to all Canberrans? Think of the flow on effects! Think of the jobs that would be created, the businesses incubated!

Below is a feed of Capital Metro’s tweeting to the 550 odd tweeters (many of them government agencies or employees) who care to follow.
