Michael Tyrrell fined $2,500 for cruelty to his dog

rspca

IN May 2013, RSPCA ACT Inspectors received a complaint about a badly wounded dog that had not been treated. RSPCA ACT veterinarians concluded that the dog had sustained a fractured leg a few days before, but the owner failed to seek treatment. Due to the severity of the injury and the failure of the owner to seek treatment, the dog’s leg required amputation.

The court case was finally held on 23 September 2014 in which owner, Michael Tyrrell, pled guilty of failure to alleviate pain. The court issued a $2500 fine and $71 in court fees.

The dog was rehomed shortly after he recovered from his surgery.
