Calwell man busted for attempted Civic carjacking

A 25-year-old Calwell man has been arrested and charged in relation to a robbery that occurred outside the Crown Plaza Hotel in Civic on Sunday (8 November).

Shortly before midnight, a woman exited her car outside the Crown Plaza Hotel on Binara Street, Civic. She was approached by an unknown man from behind and pushed to the ground. The man struck her a number of times before taking her handbag and car keys. The man then entered the woman’s car and attempted to start the ignition. The man was unable to start the car and fled the area on foot.

The woman was able to photograph the offender while he attempted to steal the car.

The man will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court this morning in relation to the charges.
