Monika McInerney joins Belconnen Arts Centre

AFTER a hiatus, Belconnen Arts Centre at last has a new creative program director.

Monika McInerney, well known as an arts figure in the south coast arts scene and co-ordinator of the Basil Sellers art prize, was appointed to replace long-time BAC creative director and curator Jacque Schultze.

A former employee of  the Eurobodalla Shire Council, her experience has involved participation in the community arts, cultural development and creative industries.

McInerney said of her likely role: “I am continuously motivated by the integral role community arts and cultural development has in fertilising social exchange, building the capacity of arts practice and its practitioners whilst forging new initiatives.”

Belconnen Arts Centre board chair, Julia Mulligan, said she was delighted with the appointment, saying: “Monika brings an enormous wealth of experience earned from holding roles across Australia, she understands our strategic direction.”
